Eigentlich ein klassischer Fake-Dating-Trope, aber mit Twist: Haf und Christopher tun so, als ob sie zusammen sind, um Christophers Familie zufrieden zu stellen und nervigen Nachfragen zu entgehen. But unfortunately end it must, so here I am writing this review and wondering how quickly I can read it all again. This book hits a few tropes - fake relationship, rich girl/poor girl - as well as starring a plus-sized heroine alongside a disabled love interest. was not a fun existence for my eyes, as I desperately clutched my tablet, trying to continue reading that last 12% of the book.

All the extended characters in the novel are wonderful; Ambrose, Christopher, Kit, their parents… Such a varied group of people that really compliment Haf (and each other). So many people’s autism is missed as children and so they end up finding out later in life, like I did, hence my little Author’s Note at the back.Kit has hypermobile Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome and while it clearly impacts who she is, it’s not all she is. The characters are well drawn and Haf, the fake date guest at Christopher's family mansion, is a delight, getting herself into one scrape after another because she couldn't bear the thought of a lonely Christmas for one. Ich wünsche mir zu Weihnachten, dass daraus eine Companion-Reihe entsteht - denn wir brauchen UNBEDINGT ein Buch mit Ambrose als Hauptfigur! if you can, i’d say it’s well worth picking up over the christmas period to get yourself in the festive spirit - the well-written wlw romance is of course the main draw but simultaneously doubles as an added bonus. Available after September 30th, 2023)'Joyous, funny and full of warm, relatable characters, this is the queer Christmas rom-com I've been waiting for' -- LAURA KAYIt's the golden rule of pretending.

And when we finally get their first kiss the moment is ruined because Kit feels guilty for obvious reasons. There were absolutely parts of this that gave me the same feeling as when reading Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. Halfway through, the humour grabbed me, the plot got bonkers and the festive feels flowed like liquid tinsel. Päris alguses võttis mul ikka veidi aega, et raamatusse sisse elada, aga siis millalgi suutis see mu ikka kaasa haarata.Haf’s parents are warm and funny, Haf’s fake boyfriend is kind and thoughtful, and I really enjoyed how his parents and family resolve their differences in the end. I had to unwrap this lovely kindle present early because I needed cheering up, and it really hit the spot!

Characters that you want to spend time with, shenanigans left right and centre, a fat queer disabled romance where none of the obstacles to the romance are to do with fatness, queerness or disability, and some really lovely friendships as well as the central couple, who are so so cute and so very gay.I was so happy I found this lovely, quirky, funny, sometimes serious and always charming audiobook to listen to over the Christmas holidays. It did a fab job with the chemistry between Kit and Haf, and made their insta-love feel at least half believable to me. Definitely not now because in my mid-30s I’m very happy with my own company and my dog and my charcuterie boards and stash of video games, but maybe in my early 20s when I was a chaos monster with nothing better to do and no money? The Cannonball-veteran (the only participant - as far as I know - who has participated every year since CBRII). I have not reviewed a book before but felt the need after listening to a book that is absolute perfection.
