There are some amusing moments, especially when Pertwee and McKidd both give their own versions of what happened when McKidd accidentally broke Pertwee’s nose. The fact that this was a lower budget film did not hamper it at all; if anything, it may have helped. Despite the grain, the picture is sharp and clear to the point you can even see the weave in the character’s jackets and every individual hair of stubble on their faces. Peirse also traces the growth of werewolf fiction in the nineteenth century, as well as the development of the cinematic genre during the twentieth century—she refers to Craig Ian Mann’s book Phases of the Moon: A Cultural History of the Werewolf Film for the latter. Thanks to the usual stellar work from Fidelity in Motion, the bit rate hasn’t suffered from including all of the extras on the disc, either.

A group of soldiers dispatched to the Scottish Highlands on special training maneuvers face their biggest fears after they run into Captain Ryan – the only survivor of a Special Ops team that was literally torn to pieces. It sounds a bit cheesy but you really get a sense that the soldiers were a brotherhood and that makes what happens to them all the more tragic to watch. He used forced camera angles and lowered ceilings to give them even more height and add an extra layer of menace and power as they towered over the humans. Yet as Carleton Young said in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, when the legend becomes fact, print the legend, and so it’s variations of Siodmak’s werewolf lore that have become indelible in popular culture.Dog Soldires is one of my favourite werewolf movies, I just love how it doesn't take all that much to create a successfully suspensful action horror that even has a twist thrown in (as if it wasn't so great already). The numerous references (or tributes) to other films such as "Aliens" and "The Matrix" were fun to spot. So as I mentioned above, since SS is a UK label, all the Brit sites should have it when it opens up.

The comparison to James Cameron's "Aliens" with its colonial Marines is a valid one, because these gritty British squaddies can more than hold their own while doing battle with their lethal foes, and keep their sense of humor throughout the combat.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

Dog Soldiers" is everything a werewolf movie should be -- gruesome, gritty and dirty, with lots of fatalities and people slowly turning into lupine nightmares. Its unflinching, carnal chaos held together by a tight script and amazing performances from the main cast. And I really enjoyed the soldiers' accents and slang (though I may not have understood every word the first time). I'd say the special effects and the 'practical' effects werewolf costumes were incredibly advanced for their time and still hold up to this day.
