Some are better than others, but together they are fun and interesting and provide new twists and turns. This is a euro game about resource management, careful planning, and making sure all the dominoes fall like you intended them to. There has always been a dark underbelly, an almost satirical narrative that streaks through the futuristic achievements, fantastical findings and bizarre societal changes in It’s a Wonderful World.

During the final campaign, depending on how players previously voted, they will use a new empire card. For me, every round presents a new tactical opportunity requiring you to evaluate a set of cards to determine which to keep and which to pass. As 7 Wonders has its distinct age decks, there is a real feeling of progression as your society advances.It has some surprise envelopes to open as the games progress through and based on the results of each game you will get a different outcome. Still, it bears repeating that yes, this is a card game and yes, that does mean that sometimes the right card you need doesn’t come out in time or at all. In another nice touch, all of the expansions have subtle but easy to read symbols to help you sort them out from the base deck.

At the conclusion of each campaign, there are booster packs to open that give you cards to add to your base deck to incorporate the twists of the campaign into your copy of It’s A Wonderful World. The small differences in the starting empires can really change up how you progress and what you are looking to build to score points. With the exception of 7 Wonders and Sushi Go, there aren’t a lot of “go-to” draft game for me personally. Tery: In early 2020 a friend told me how great he thought It’s a Wonderful World was and how many times he had played in a short amount of time. Now, while those are the two things that get added after the campaign (and during), there are other ideas during the campaign.You get the points printed on the cards, any bonuses for having cards of a certain color and points for your generals and financiers; they are generally one point each, but there are cards that will increase their value. It was a bit unsatisfying, but I’m skeptical that it will happen again, just based on sheer probability. The cards you build will improve the production engine of your Empire and will grant you victory points at the end of the game.
