Fitz then attacks and subdues Hogen, threatening to castrate him and gets him to explain the rest of what happened. I mean, I’m glad Fitz is finally getting the recognition he deserves and that he’s happy, but still! As the plot slowly spools out, it promises great complexity, and it is difficult to imagine that she will wrap this series up in one more volume. Apart from the fact that I love the political ramifications this might have for Kelsingra and the Six Duchies, this has me even more interested in the connection between the dragons and the Skill!

I will not waste any more time and continue immediately to Assassin’s Fate, the last book of the trilogy and also the last book of the entire RotE series. The raiding of Withywoods was chilling and the aftermath was so well dealt with and not a bit glossed over. The characters just pull you so far into these stories that I don't mind reading what they're eating because I wish I was at that table.

A man on the doorstep of death at the end of Fool's Assassin to a man adamant to avenge the death of his child, we see a drastic change in him here.

Clerres just sounds creepier every time I learn more about it 😬 Still, I am dying to learn more about its history! Unless otherwise stated, featured cover images are from Goodreads and graphics were made with Canva. And, having Fitz and the Fool reunited again was just was marvelous as in Fool's Errand (the first book in the Tawny Man trilogy) when they met again after several years apart. Nope, I’m definitely not super emotional about Skill-drunk Fitz unwillingly spilling all of his secrets to Nettle and Nettle realizing for the first time how much her father has truly sacrificed for her. An interesting turn in this book is that it ties together the Fitz and Fool books with Bingtown and the Rain Wilds. There are very few authors who can get me to tolerate considerable detail spent on clothing, gifts, feasting and just plain organizing stuff. I have a thing for Robin Hobb's 2nd book in a trilogy, they are always my favorite out of the three or at least on equal grounds with the first book (let's avoid talking about her previous finales stillsaltyaboutfoolsfate), and this is no different except that ASSASSIN'S FATE BLEW MY FREAKING BRAINS OUT.

We got a super cool scene where the crown was able to use the Wit to their advantage and track Bee, and we got some Wit-related scenes with Fleeter and Motley, but nothing really substantial.Note to people reading this: Don’t you ever, ever announce some life-changing secret of mine in front of a huge audience without consulting me first. If it’s anything like previous third books in these trilogies, it will be devastating and magnificent. It was awesome to finally see all the previous non-Fitz series finally have a role in Fitz’s storyline.
