Every lifter will hit a plateau at some stage. No matter how hard you try, change up your diet or program, you just can’t beat that previous best. Some lifters will pursue all sort of complicated methods to set a new PB, while overlooking the simplest. If a product is either received faulty or develops a fault please in the first instance complete the form in our product support section. Some spare parts are considered to be consumable; this means that we would expect you to have to replace them over the lifetime of your machine. Unfortunately it is difficult to say how long these consumable parts should last as this will depend on a number of different factors such as frequency of use, environment, technique, other components etc.

For advanced lifters, powerlifting and weightlifting programs are based around percentages of one rep maximums or similar. These numbers can always be rounded up or down to the nearest 5kg increments. But for some lifters and coaches, the exact numbers must be followed. There are various types of weight plates, and the training discipline you follow will determine which are best for you. It will state on your delivery note how many boxes you should receive. If the boxes you receive don't match the delivery note you must write down the number of boxes received on the delivery note next to your signature. Most bumper plates have two or three-year warranties for larger weights with smaller weights (10-15 pounds) having 90-day warranties due to how thin they can be and the likelihood they could suffer damage if dropped on their own. Consider all the above and think about your training environment so you can make the best choice possible. Bumper Plates vs. Metal Plates

A note on pairing weight plates with different barbells: For more dynamic lifts (cleans, snatches and overhead work, we would recommend pairing an Olympic weightlifting barbell (see our Weightlifting Bars) with Olympic Bumper Plates. This is because the Olympic Weightlifting bars are more flexible in the shaft and work together with rubber bumpers to absorb impact from high drops. This is where you need some fractional plates. They are almost mandatory for any lifter regardless of their experience level. Getting Stronger for LongerPlease consult your doctor before using any exercise equipment or embarking upon any exercise routine.

What training discipline you follow will help you determine the best weight plates to buy. Olympic lifters and CrossFitters should use rubber bumper plates so you can drop your barbell from overhead without causing damage to the plates, the bar, or your floor. However, powerlifters and individuals who don’t plan on dropping their weights may opt for iron or steel plates instead. Because they are thinner, you can add more of them to a barbell. Durability Like all crumb bumper plates, the PRx plates are very bouncy. When Amanda Dvorak (an editor on the Breaking Muscle team) dropped a barbell loaded with the 45s from hip height, it rebounded a couple of inches above her knees. This is important to note if you don’t want your barbell to bounce uncontrollably and damage other equipment in your home gym. Unlike rubber plates, steel plates are not meant to be dropped, so they aren’t the best choice for Olympic weightlifting. But powerlifters and strength training enthusiasts will appreciate both the color-coded plates and how precise they are. The colors represent universal standards for various weights: Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste. Unwanted electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving on natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health. If your lowest weight plate is a 2.5kg, then you will be trying to break your bench press PB by 5kgs. For an intermediate or experienced trainer this is massive. Not only in terms of the jump in weight, but also the physiological aspect.Once we receive your old product we will ensure that it is handled in the correct environmentally aware way in line with current WEEE regulations. For more information on WEEE recycling, and locate your local recycling centre go to www.recyclenow.com Iron plates used to be much cheaper than bumper plates, as bumper plates have more material. However, the gap has closed within the last couple of years due to an increase in the cost of iron for the manufacturers.

The Force USA Rubber Coated Olympic Weight Plates are easy to maintain and care for. If you get chalk or dirt on them, you can simply wipe them with a damp rag and mild dish soap. They are also rust-resistant, making them an excellent option for humid garage or basement gyms. These plates can support you at the beginning of your fitness journey and provide the resistance you need as you get stronger and train harder.

Olympic microplates, otherwise known as fractional plates in 0.25 and 0.5 kilos are a convenient little tool to have at your disposal, some exercises don’t lend themselves well to 2.5-kilo jumps and ideally require micro loading. If your goal is to build muscle then take a look at our range of weights and gym equipment for sale. Our collection of dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells and disc weights are ideal whether you're just starting off, or are well on your bodybuilding journey. We have stylish activewear and gym accessories too — everything you need to work out at home. GYM WEIGHTS All home gyms with a barbell will be served well with a full set. Weight increases with dumbell exercises are generally smaller so if you want to micro load with dumbells you can buy 2 sets. Weight plates are a foundational part of any top-tier home gym environment. If you compete in a strength sport such as powerlifting or Olympic lifting, they are essential for training. Even if you’re a casual lifter or beginner, you should have weight plates in your weight room because you can use different levels of resistance for various exercises to get bigger, stronger, and leaner. The kilogram plates are approved by the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), which is considered the top powerlifting league in the world. The pound plates are not approved because the IPF uses kilos to determine weight in competition but are made with the same specifications. Both versions have a 50.4-millimeter collar opening and range from 90 millimeters to 450 millimeters in diameter.
