Description

If you have the first turn, you must reveal all of your ambush markers at the start of your Command phase. You can set up this unit anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 8" away from any enemy models.

Relic – Mark of the Clawed Omnissiah: Gain a 4+ invulnerable save and deal a mortal wound to an enemy within 1″ on a 2+ after finishing a charge move. If you set up this unit in ambush, place an ambush marker anywhere on the battlefield that is wholly within your deployment zone. Prepared Ambush– 1CP: A unit of Neophyte Hybrids that set up on the battlefield this battle round makes their autoguns assault 2 instead of rapid fire 1. The ceiling here is wildly low, and even in perfect circumstances with a 20 model full squad (which you don’t take) this is adding 16 BS4+ autogun shots. This needed to give rapid fire 2 instead. C

Warlord Trait – Augur of the Insurgent: Re-roll charges in a 6″ aura for Broodsurge units. Top tier. A

Unquestioning Loyalty allows you to pass wounds suffered by a unit with a GSC character in it to a friendly unit within 3”, excluding vehicles. The unit receiving the lost wounds takes these as mortal wounds instead. At crucial moments this can keep your heavy-hitting units alive at the expense of disposable (perhaps recycling) chaff, and helps you to weather enemy shooting and combat. Not bad for 1 CP! Genestealer Cults are quite a different faction from most others in 40k. Generally Warhammer armies are massive forces of destruction, whether that’s the galaxy-spanning hammer of the Astra Militarum, the ever-travelling craftworlds of the Eldar, the ancient tomb-lords of the Necrons, or some other faction which turns up anywhere and everywhere. Genestealer Cults are a lot more personal; they’re not made up of super-soldiers or faceless killers, but instead of the men and women of a single world. They’re alien-infected, psychically controlled, and often monsters, but for 40k that still makes them average people, damnit. Army Strengths

Like a lot of factions GSC gained the option of taking custom creeds in their PA book. You might think this could potentially be interesting, given that lists already tend to be mixed cult. The Tectonic Fragdrill is a massive scenery piece particular to the Genestealer Cults. You can use the gigantic drill in a variety of ways in your games. It allows units to be removed from the table and redeployed closer to the enemy, and its immense power can also be harnessed to cause tremors that slow down nearby units, or a mighty quake that can split the earth in a straight line across the battlefield, causing mortal wounds to units in its path.

Goonhammer makes no actual value judgement about the nobility of infecting the populace with parasitic alien DNA. If you want to keep your Genestealer Cults leaders safe, you want a Locus. This unit is the ultimate bodyguard, capable of intercepting wounds and striking down enemies before they’ve even had the chance to get at your Patriarch, Magus, Primus, or champion of choice! You’ll be able to arm your Sanctus with your choice of silencer sniper rifle or Sanctus bio-dagger – the former is superb for killing psykers, while the latter makes the Sanctus into a brutal close-combat fighter. Raise the Banners High (Shadow Operations): You have a lot of small INFANTRY squads, and your opponent often won’t be able to safely push onto objectives you’ve flagged till you’ve squeezed a decent few points out of them. Its also at least worth thinking about Repair Teleport Homer in this category against an opponent with low ground coverage – If they’ve sent their forces to engage elsewhere, you can drop a unit in their deployment zone and start scoring this (you can begin it straight out of deep strike) while protecting the unit with Lurk. Alien Majesty is a big winner of the “generic” ones, with Biomorph Adaptation also being a good choice. Beyond that, you’re generally betterTo add depth and shadows to the clothing, use Coelia Greenshade. Apply this shade carefully, focusing on the creases and folds of the fabric. It will bring out the details and create a realistic effect. Every time someone tries to hurt him the wounds bounce onto the acolytes, who can then fire their hand flamers at point blank range when they die half the time. As with many of the Genestealer Cults' activities, this hunt for new territory and resources is carried out under a shield of legitimacy. Almost all mining corps in the Imperium's rapacious industrial machine search out new seams and quarries using teams of scouts. After all, geologicum servitors and terramantic augurs can only be trusted so far, and there is no substitute for the eyes of a well-trained reconnaissance operative. There are a fair few options in here, especially in the character section, and I will try to give you as comprehensive a run down as I can whilst highlighting some possible combinations.
