Finally the Deceiver’s warscroll spell is a turbocharged version of skitterleap from the main lore. With a CV6 (and 18” range if you wanted to use it on something else) and the same target requirements as regular skitterleap, this version instead lets you set up more than 6” from any enemy models, making those teleport charges far more likely to connect with your target. Deathmaster At first you’ll be like “why are these Artillery” and then later you’ll be stroking your chin like “why aren’t Longstrikes Artillery”. Friends, these are just Skaven Longstrikes. You get half the shots, but they’re half the points. This actually works out pretty well! Because they’re Artillery and Single you’re limited in how many total you can get, but they’re cheap enough that unlike Longstrikes you don’t need to invest anything extra into them for them to do a decent job. You can take as many as you can and make pew pew noises or you can take one or two units and they’ll be OK. Warp Lightning Cannon Now, in the Age of Sigmar, the Skaven are a constant threat. Their numbers are hidden but truly staggering; Skaven can be found in all corners of the universe, burrowing, multiplying, and plotting. Thankfully for the other inhabitants of the Mortal Realms, the ferocity, inventiveness, and cunning of the Skaven is only matched by their individual cowardice. If they ever overcame their natural tendency to flee when isolated, it would mean dark tidings indeed. Strong artillery : the Skaven artillery can easily weaken formations, moral and health, allowing for monsters or better infantry to make a breakthrough in the enemy line at the right moment. These are a little expensive to casually throw away and they will fold immediately if targeted by the enemy, but if you have an alpha strike plan in mind (and most Skaven lists do!) these can find a place. Slynk Skittershank

There are two core sets of models that any prospective Skaven army collector should look at purchasing, and purchasing in numbers. These are Clanrats and Stormvermin. Clanrats are your grunt, your generic trooper. They’re there to act in three ways: as a meat shield for your more valuable units and heroes, to deny areas of the board to your opponent, and to deal damage if enough of them survive to reach the enemy. To his dismay, Thanquol has found that he’s not the only survivor from the World-That-Was. His arch nemesis, Gotrek Gurnisson, has also survived, and is set to foil Thanquol’s plans all over again as part of their never-ending vendetta. The End Times saw the end of the old world, yet some seeds remained. As the World-That-Was splintered into void and different realms, the Skaven persisted, able to tunnel through the void much as they once did through the ground. Their god scattered them throughout the Mortal Realms as the realms became reborn, setting them the task of multiplying and conquering in his name.

c.100 IC The Rat and The Serpent - The war in Lustria between Clan Pestilens and the Lizardmen. [1d] Loyalty affects whether Skaven lords are likely to rebel against you in campaign mode. Many things can affect loyalty, for instance Queek Headtaker has an increased likelihood of having Grey Seers rebel against him. This mechanic is shared with the Dark Elves. Loyalty can be increased through victories, completed quests, recruiting more units and loyalty dilemmas. Loyalty can decrease from defeats, failed quests, disbanding units, loyalty dilemmas and randomly on its own. The poor Doomwheel doesn’t quite get there. A little too fragile, too random, too pricey and occupying a behemoth slot really pushes it out of contention. This is a shame as it’s so close to being useful, with a good pokey gun and the rolling doom rule letting it move over units with a wounds characteristic of 3 or less and doing mortal wounds when it does so. They’re a lot of fun if you do take them, though it would be nice to see a re-write on more-more speed as the punishment for rolling a double 1 (your opponent getting to move the model) is far too big currently. Doo Larger groups of ratmen are also bolstered by the Strength in Numbers rule. This adds two to your Skaven’s Bravery score for every ten models in a unit, meaning that, whilst their Bravery is comparatively low, with enough bodies behind them, any Skaven becomes a hero.Forge World nonsense, the Warpgnaw is a Verminlord that hasn’t been properly updated for the new tome. It’s got the previous edition’s 12 wounds and the previous edition’s approach to Verminlord points. The rest of Skaven history is largely divided into the various wars fought with other races or among themselves. The most important of these are: However, I feel like I never learned how to effectively play Skaven. Over time, I've only learned these few things: Just sit on a side of the map, put slaves at the front, do not move your army at the beginning, just let the canons and catapults destroy the defending tower. Afterwards, let your siege units destroy units on the wall, and magic will destroy everything that coulde try to contest it. Finally you will be able to overflow the walls and route the enemy units remaining on it, before taking out the cavalry or monsters waiting behind it. Skavenslaves are extremely expendable and very fast to recruit and cheap. They can be recruited from any Skaven settlement, as they only require the main settlement chain building. A common tactic is to create a second army of just Skavenslaves and have it follow around your main army and initiate battles so that the Skavenslaves take all the damage and wear out the enemy, ready for your main army to get all the kills. If Skavenslaves die - no worries, there is plenty more where they came from. However, this must be balanced against the cost of faction-wide increase on upkeep when recruiting a whole new army.
