McIndoe directed operations, re-constructing his patients and inspired them to rebuild their own lives.

I think mainly that's because with some comedians it's the way they tell their jokes, rather than just the words they use. However, it wasn't the hypnotherapy itself that enabled him to stop – "I succeeded in spite of and not because of that visit" and "I lit up the moment I left the clinic and made my way home. Alan Carr described his life story in his own words, from growing up in a football-mad family in Northampton to his rise as one of Britain's best-loved comedians.A further reason for allowing smokers to smoke while undergoing counselling is Carr's belief that it is more difficult to convince a smoker to stop until they understand the mechanism of "the nicotine trap".

I'd just smile sweetly and watch their face fall when my camp voice trilled, 'I'm not really into football,' then carry on listening to the Supremes on my Walkman. In fact, strange as it might seem, the things I hate about myself have become my trademark and I am slowly, begrudgingly learning to, if not love them, to at least live with them.
