I personally don’t see why you couldn’t play this game solo, though you would miss out on the shared storytelling aspects. I played the shortened version at first suggested by a YouTuber, so that the game was not repetitive. I noticed that with 4 players, the monsters are easier to defeat since characters tend to take more damage in 2- or 3-player games. Now your attacks do more damage for every encounter going forward and your special attack also now has a chance of earning you coins.This would mean each player would experience control of two different characters, a good thing, but it might be confusing for some players.
