The smokey notes in the base notes really come out in the dry down, giving it that sensual close to the skin type of smell, and because of that distinct scent I can understand why some say its sex in a bottle; it just is. Yes, it's "supposed to be" a colder weather fragrance, but I wear this year around...and only at night. It lasts 8+ hours on my skin and it project extremely well. I go 4 sprays at night, 5 sprays if it's a big space or outdoors. Women LOVE it.

I was struggling with the bottle, I was given to test, like for a week. I was handling it as a riddle, that I have to solve. In the end, I started googling on it. It's strong but not overwhelming for me, and I've worn it year round for the last five years or so. Daytime and evening. Sorry if you've ever been on the tube with me in the Summer at rush hour. That being said, sillage isn't as giant as I initially thought it would be, or my skin chemistry does something to those big truffle notes everyone gets. It does last nicely on my clothes, but not on my skin as much. Sometimes I'm hit by a note of smoky chocolate on my arms the next morning, but it's typically more powdery scents that linger on me, sadly. The dry down mellows things out a bit, I guess it's a LITTLE boozy but still, not much...it's definitely more pleasant than the opening and much closer to the original Definitely an exclusively night-time scent, can't wait for clubs to reopen so I can wear this out, it has such a magnetic quality to it.This ultimately smells like BO on a day off...a weekend BO possibly. Call me nuts, but I feel as if this is summery. What with the coconut/fig and the golden florals, I think this is ideal for a sulty summer night. Slightly heavy? Yes possibly, but if you're in the mood to be a little extra in the heat, I think this (maybe undersprayed) would be a glorious choice. Summertime goth 😆 It could be beautiful, should be beautiful, but I just would never ever wear it. So, sadly, not for me. So far, it's the worst perfume I ever smelled. The long list of the notes, that are listed here, is impressive, but there is no complexity it this perfume, just cacophony. Oh yes, and there is something sweaty in drydown that comes up like a final unpleasant surprise. I compared the two of them side by side (one tiny spritz on each wrist) earlier this morning, and it was immediately apparent that the Parfum was behaving better. It's rounder, creamier and more chocolatey, it wants to seduce you.

Like earth, damp, wet soil. But when it introduce along with Orchid note in bed of Chocolate and Vanilla. To the weirdo who assumes that anyone hating on this just does it because so many others have it: don't label others with your own apparent limiting behaviours, pal. Perfume is as objective a luxury as they come, especially when adding skin chemistry. I wear whatever I like, no matter the label or the thousands of people buying it. Such a weird assumption... I put some on today since I work from home and I don't have to worry about feeling self conscious wearing it. Maybe I can see why I really have kept it for about 15 years now? Really think about why I still own it for this long. Hmm.... I must admit that it's still unique for what it is. Even though there are many other scents that try to emulate it and some are pretty close but none are really this one. As this scent ages, the truffle note really does become more mentholated to me and honestly I actually love it. If you don't overspray this scent, you can really enjoy the chocolate note, the patchouli note and myriad of fruit notes this one has. The heart of the fragrance is then all about the vanillic orchid, the exotic spices, the tropical ylang ylang and sun-ripened fruity notes. It is a mish mash of different notes that don't really go together and makes me feel slightly naseous. They don't really complement each other at all and it doesn't feel like much thought went into these notes.

The EDT is the brightest, freshest version of the scent. It’s better for spring or summer evenings. Out of the three this one has the best projection but the longevity is not as good - probably just 3-4 hours. I find this to be the most feminine leaning of the line although they are all perfectly unisex.

For women, any age can wear this. For men, this is an ADULT fragrance. A confident, secure MAN that knows how to approach and talk to women without coming off as a creep or a dudebro can wear this. This smells like seduction (not sex, learn the difference). BOP opens with an earthy, vegetal truffle note, similar to the real thing as in the EDP. It is richer and longer-lasting here, complemented to perfection by the boozy rum note. It is quite balsamic. This is not a perfume for everyone, you have to have the confidence and the look to match it, otherwise you'll just get eaten alive by it, but if you do, this will definitely be your secret weapon scent. Striking since its inception, the fragrance continues to envelop all genders in a world of its own. I may just be too much of a basic bitch to appreciate this and maybe it will grow on me...but as of right now, I'm glad I sampled first. If you don't like the EDP, you will hate this. And if you own the EDP, it would be pretty redundant. Definitely more feminine to my nose, but then again the original is just barely unisex for me...

Currently popular on idealo

No mint or menthol in this for me whatsoever. I get dead wood and smoke initially, then the smokiness disappears into overripe (nearly rotten in hot sun) berries, then a touch of that smoke again with syrupy chocolate and vanilla.

Well, after that last statement you'd think this was a hate review but it's really not. For quite a few years in the early 10s, I didn't wear it at all, very rarely if I did. I would say it has taken me till this past year and now to kind of feel a bit more love towards it. It's a bottle of scent that I never wanted to sell off or swap away; and that's pretty funny to me since I had done that to so many other great scents discontinued or now out of reach monetary-wise. Projection was close to your bubble, so was sillage. This will be a scent that doesn't reach across a room- but anyone walking side by side with your or sitting across a restaurant table will be able to catch whiffs of this. Longevity was excellent. Applying at 8PM and a shower later, I woke up the next day and could still smell this on my skin. Finally, for the next few hours I can detect a vanillic boozy note- it's not overpowering since the earthy chocolate and fruit are still there, but it adds a nice "come sniff me again and again" aspect to the fragrance. For this scent, I get deep, dark, EARTHY chocolate. It's very rich and dense which translate to luxurious and opulent instead of candy-sweet and playful chocolate. There is definitely a fruity accord to match, and again, it's done in a way where it's rich and decadent. Just adding a hint of sweetness to the deep earthy chocolate. It never goes full gourmand since it does smell like you've unearthed this chunk of dark chocolate from under an old tree and it still has all the soil around it. You wouldn't really want to eat it.A sweet amber-vanilla accord emerges as it dries down, with soft spices and booziness remaining as it fades. Sillage is fairly strong and longevity is long-lasting. Ideally worn during autumn/winter. For the ladies: I'm not a big fan of Tom Ford. I was, when he was still art dirctor at YSL where he launched the amazing M7 frag for men and created the beautiful bottle. In 2005 he left and created his own brand (what else of a self proclaimed egomaniac) called: 'Tom Ford'. Cashing in on his supposed 'sex symbol' status for the ladies, he posed sedutively on a cover of Vanity Fair, where he sat clothed between an totally naked Scarlett Johansen and Keira Knightly. Although he is 100% and now openly gay. Sorry ladies.
