Description

Fans of romantic fantasy and mythology will want to dive into this world. I keep seeing this listed as a young adult title, but have to disagree. There is sex and violence and, I would place in firmly in the adult category or New Adult. We find in the last chapters of the novel, that Sir Holland is actually not human. As it turns out, he is a Spirit of Fate. He is like a god who never ages. Did I expect him to say something else? That I mattered? To him? And that he cared for me, even though he couldn’t love? After what I’d plotted? I didn’t. This book took me a little to get into because I came straight from A Crown of Gilded Bones but I ended up loving it so much! When the stars fall from the night, the great mountains crumble into the seas, and old bones raise their swords beside the gods, the false one will be stripped from glory until two born of the same misdeeds, born of the same great and Primal power in the mortal realm. A first daughter, with blood full of fire, fated for the once-promised King. And the second daughter, with blood full of ash and ice, the other half of the future King. Together, they will remake the realms as they usher in the end.

Nyktos wasn’t ever going to claim his consort. He tried to let her have the life he thought she wanted, but after spending time with her that is out of the question. He has so many enemies; it is not safe for a mortal he cares about to be in his court. Still Seraphina has a way of getting under his skin and making him make unwise decisions. She might just be his undoing. All this brings up the sad realisation from Sera that she will die no matter what, the future she had hoped for is gone and her death remains the only constant. I cried along when Ash cried tears of blood, the sign of a Primals absolutely in grief. Also, the way JLA handled, and portrayed anxiety was spot on for me. I really appreciated the way it was written and never looked down upon as a weakness. Aún así como os digo, la autora crea unos finales épicos y con muchas ganas de seguir leyendo sus historias, así que estoy deseando que salga el siguiente. After four Blood and Ash series books and one Flesh and Fire series book it was bound to happen…a book has finally overtaken A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire as my all time favorite and it is A Light in the Flame!!

Sera has always known what she is. Chosen. Consort. Assassin. Weapon. A specter never fully formed yet drenched in blood. A monster. Until him. Until the Primal of Death’s unexpected words and deeds chase away the darkness gathering inside her. And his seductive touch ignites a passion she’s never allowed herself to feel and cannot feel for him. But Sera has never had a choice. Either way, her life is forfeit—it always has been, as she has been forever touched by Life and Death. I had different expectations to how Sera and Nyktos's relationship would develop in the sequel but I was hoping the miscommunication between them wouldn't have been as present and that what mainly bothered me. Here it seemed they kept going through the same cycle at times. Nyktos was a lot much better than Casteel at the begin however they merged into one by the finish of the book so they honestly are virtually the identical. He moreover stays the very same all through the total book. However, Sera's real destiny is the most closely guarded secret in all of Lasania - she's not the well protected Maiden but an assassin with one mission—one target. Make the Primal of Death fall in love, become his weakness, and then … end him. If she fails, she dooms her kingdom to a slow demise at the hands of the Rot. please, when sera realized she was in love with nyk, i was in tears 😭 and oh my god when he sensed her love but didn’t know what it meant—

Chosen before birth to uphold a deal made by her ancestor, her mission is to be the Primal of Death’s consort, in return for her land to be saved from The Rot. However, Sera’s real destiny is the most closely guarded secret in all of Lasania - she’s not the well protected Maiden but an assassin with one mission - one target. Make the Primal of Death fall in love, become his weakness, and then...end him. If she fails, she dooms her kingdom to a slow demise at the hands of the Rot. Kolis has known about the embers for ages. He knows she has them and he knows how to get them. He has known all along; he knew when he summoned them to get permission for the coronation. He also revealed that Ash's mother loved Kolis and that's why Eythos hated him. WTF? I thought they had a great love and now I don't know what to think. Also, all of this means everything Ash did to protect Sera was for NOTHING. That isn’t a dig at a narrator, she was great at what she did, it’s a dig on the author for choosing the same. Now even tho i hate you for putting me through this hellish waiting cycle again, you 𝐉𝐋𝐀 fu#king earned every praise you received and will continue to receive in the future. So a big ass thank you for this gift of a series.
