I launched into Friday On My Mind, book five of the Freida Klein series by Nicci French, directly after finishing Thursday's Children. Nicci French is the pen name used by the team of a husband and wife writers named Nicci Gerrard and Sean French. They are popular for writing psychological thrillers and hail from England, The United Kingdom. Nicci and Sean also write several of their novels separately other than writing the psychological thrillers together. The two got married in the year 1990 and from 1999 onward they have been living in Suffolk, East Anglia, England, The United Kingdom. Sean is Nicci second husband as she was married once before. From that marriage, she has two children named Anna and Edgar. With her marriage to Sean French, she is blessed with a couple of daughters named Molly and Hadley. Author Nicci Gerard was born on June 10, 1958, and spent her growing years in Worcestershire. She grew up with two other sisters and a brother. Something is horribly wrong. Tess is certain Poppy saw something—or something happened to her—that she’s too young to understand. Jason insists the weekend went off without a hitch. Doctors advise that Poppy may be reacting to her parents’ separation. And as the days go on, even Poppy’s disturbing memory seems to fade. But psychotherapist Frieda Klein is very much alive. And, after evidence linking her to the murder is discovered, she becomes the prime suspect. One of her patients describes dreams of seizing a boy who is the spitting image of Matthew. Convinced at first the police will dismiss her fears out of hand, Frieda reluctantly finds herself drawn into the heart of the case. A previous abduction, from twenty years ago, suggests a new lead - one that only Frieda, an expert on the minds of disturbed individuals, can uncover.

A great storyline, well written and with excellent characters, I really enjoyed this book and found it interesting and intriguing. The character build-up and story of Frieda Klein series is unique and different than the others (e.g. Hungry birds series, Divergent series, Twilight Sag, etc.). it starts its story immediately with the climax, with the mystery which makes the reader hyped up when reading the book because it gives the urge of wanting to find out the mystery and the who’s, and of how will they solve the mystery and open another. Although it would not yet be in movies or in the television, the novel is a good franchise.A gritty heroine, a gruesome crime and a terrifying hunt for a psychotic killer, Tuesday's Gone is not to be missed by fans of psychological thrillers. T he Fall explores notions of femaleness and sexual violence and it does so in a way that is powerfully unsettling and sometimes queasy-making. The camera lingers on its central character: her strongly beautiful profile and the full curve of her lips; her sleek hair, her gorgeous silk shirts (almost as iconic as Lund’s jumper), her shapely calves, the way she looks as she swims, as she undresses. She is itemised, fetishised, turned into a body, watched and assessed. It can feel that the way the serial killer watches his victims is eerily replicated by the way the camera watches Gibson. She complicates this by her own sexual behaviour; aloof, icy, sexually passionate without being warm, she uses men the way that men traditionally use women. She turns them into objects, the way that women are turned into objects by the male gaze or, at the other end of the spectrum, by the rapist.

This is the 7th book in the Psychotherapist Dr Frieda Klein series by authors Nicci Gerrard and Sean French who publish under the pseudonym Nicci French. In Nicci’s French’s thrilling fifth book, London psychotherapist Frieda Klein herself becomes the prime suspect in a murder Fierce, fascinating and full of insight, Frieda Klein is irresistible.”—Val McDermid, bestselling author of Splinter the Silence The Frieda Klein series includes the titles Blue Monday, Tuesday’s Gone, Waiting for Wednesday, Thursday’s Child (also published as Thursday’s Children), Friday on My Mind, Saturday Requiem(also published as Dark Saturday), Sunday Morning Coming Down (also published as Sunday Silence), and Day of the Dead. (The books’ American titles and covers are sometimes different from the British ones.) Is it strange to review an entire series in one review?

Publication Order of Frieda Klein Books

There is a reason why the Nicci French writing duo remains firmly on my list of favourite writers – theirs are dark and disturbing books that mess with my mind, and I love that! Sunday Morning Coming Down is no exception, with the added element of danger to beloved characters from earlier books in the series, which had me on tenterhooks! I will not go into any details, for fear of giving something away, only to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have its predecessors. A thought-provoking, fast-paced, well written thriller containing several twists and a surprise ending, this novel will appeal to fans But, the thing about this story is how the characters we have come to know, suddenly changed, or were not in the picture at all and I kind of missed that element. As a long-time fan of Nicci French novels I was delighted when my ‘in-person’ bookclub, Whodunit, selected “Blue Monday” as our group read for the month of September.
