[2] Assignment of the machine to experienced MS pilots was prioritized, and as these pilots were often appointed as commanders of newly formed MS platoon, the GM Command series also gained a reputation as a 'Commander Use Unit' even though it was not specifically built for commanders. [1] There were also cases where the suit was supplied on a platoon scale, leading to a considerable number of operational units in total. [2] Armaments [ ] A beam rifle developed near the end of the One Year War to test the next-generation beam accelerator. The "S" in its model number stands for "snail-type E-Cap". Only a few units were built, and Lydo Wolf was known to use one such weapon. Years later, it was improved into the BR-M-87 Beam Rifle (which has identical appearance) and supplied to Anaheim Electronics' MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki and other mobile suits.

Another unit was rolled out in December, U.C. 0079 and assigned to North America. This unit had a different color scheme and featured orange sensors. By the end of the war, it had accumulated five kill scores, including at least one MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type and one MS-09 Dom, respectively. Unconfirmed reports indicated that this unit later participated in the Gryps War as part of Karaba. [1] Variants [ ] A custom shield used by the " White Dingo Team," the lower half of the RGM-79 GM's shield is placed on top of the smaller shield commonly used by the Gundam Ground Type and GM Ground Type. Like the original version it can be thrust into the ground and used as an elevated weapon firing position. With the dissolution of Titans at the end of Gryps Conflict, the EFF commissioned Anaheim Electronics to convert the remaining RMS-154 Barzam units into MS more suitable for their use. The BR-GM was subsequently put into limited production. The dioramas Sei gawks at includes Char's Z'Gok smashing a GM, Last Shooting and the God Gundam holding the damaged Shining Gundam. These same dioramas were seen in episode 6 of Gundam Build Fighters, A Reason to Battle.An optional attachment for the GM, a pair of 10-tube missile pods can be attached to each of the GM’s shoulders, with a 3-tube missile pod attached to each side of the GM’s skirt armor. These pods are single use and need to be reloaded or replaced after usage. They can likely be jettisoned after all missiles are fired. The plot of Keroro Gunsō the Super Movie (2006) starts with Keroro buying a gunpla of the GM Sniper Custom Ver. Ka. The said gunpla has yet to be released in real life, but the Kunio Okawara-designed GM Sniper Custom got released in 2017, 11 years after the movie release.

It also had enhanced versatility, with its design sharing similarities with other high specification machines at that time, like the RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom and the FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam. Since the GM Dominance was not meant for mass production, only a small number was produced during the One Year War. At the onset of the One Year War, the Earth Federation did not take the mobile suit threat seriously- this was until the Principality of Zeon military completely outmaneuvered and decimated the Earth Federation Space Force with their MS-06 Zaku II. As Zeon forces laid siege on Earth, the Federation developed several prototype mobile suits, the most notable being the RX-78-2 Gundam, and from the Gundam came the Earth Federation's first mass production mobile suit: the RGM-79 GM, which was more agile and faster than the Zeon's Zaku II in space and on earth. The GM would serve as the Federation's primary mobile suit throughout the war, supported by the RB-79 Ball mobile pod, and later serve as the basis of the Earth Federation's mobile suits for over fifteen years. Developed as part of the Federation Forces Reconstruction Project that began in U.C. 0081, the design of the RGM-79N GM Custom was based on the RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom, the RGM-79G GM Command, the RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type, and the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1. It was developed at Augusta Base and incorporated many parts that were developed for Gundam NT-1, which was originally considered for mass production. [1] Because of this, the GM Custom's specifications were considered top class even among Augusta series mobile suits, which were already renowned for their high performance. Its thrust was almost twice that of previous GMs and its generator output rivalled Gundam type mobile suits, making it one of the Federation's highest performing mass production unit prior to the Delaz Conflict.
