I applied this new mix to all areas that were this colour or darker, while holding off from applying it to any areas that were lighter in tone. I used the same mix with a size 0 brush to apply to the dark green parts of the frog’s skin, most of which were as a second layer (the layer underneath being dry). With the previous layer dry, I used the darkest orange tones and midtone orange mixes again to make tonal adjustments.

I made this painting about my one my favourite childhood frog characters and this is the fun urban pop art version of him. I painted the frog’s skin using the size 3 brush and the brighter Winsor Green (Yellow Shade) with lots of water and a little Winsor Lemon. I stippled the colour, leaving gaps wherever there were highlights and adding more Winsor Lemon for the yellower parts of the frog’s skin.
